Justin McCarthy 1935 drawing of Frances McKittrick

/>
A typical “glamor girl” drawing by Justin McCarthy showing the ragged condition common to many of his earliest works. I have identified the model as Frances McKittrick, daughter of a prominent resident of Woodley near Philadelphia J. Clifford Rosengarten. Society figures. I believe the date, unclear here, is 1935, as she “made her debut”in 1931 and was married in 1936. McCarthy likely saw an engagement article in a Philly area newspaper. I was able to find one photo…but not clear enough to validate the artist’s rendition. Justin McCarthy “Miss Frances McKittrick of PHILA, Daughter of J.
